EPA Says It’s Under No ‘Pressure’ to Reopen St. Croix Refinery

Even as the US hustles to find additional refinery capacity amid a global fuel shortage, the Environmental Protection Agency isn’t prepared to cut corners to bring one of the hemisphere’s largest operations back on line, EPA Administrator Michael Regan said.
At issue is the fate of the more than 55-year-old Limetree Bay refinery on St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands, which at one time was the biggest in the world processing in excess of 600,000 barrels a day.
