About the Author

Holly Mackle is author of Little Hearts, Prepare Him Room, a contributing author for Engaging Motherhood, editor of engagingmotherhood.com, and founder of the Digging Suburbia blog on gardening, parenting, and life. Holly graduated from Samford University and holds Masters degrees in Spanish Literature and Secondary Education. She also writes as a regular contributor to enCourage, the women's blog for the Presbyterian Church in America, and is the humorist for joegardener.com, a companion site for the nationally-syndicated PBS show Growing A Greener World.

In her free time, Holly enjoys podcasts on pop culture and theology (sometimes back to back), baking her way through Pioneer Woman's recipes, and using every gardening metaphor possible to explain life to her girls. She is wife to David and mama of two in Birmingham, Alabama.

The community of eleven writers who contributed to Same Here, Sisterfriend each have their own experiences to share as moms and sisterfriends, but all of them love a good laugh, most of them won't turn down a good cup of coffee, and many of them call Birmingham, Alabama home. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It’s a collection of hilarious, but inspiring mom stories from real-life. I need this kind of book in my life, because I tend to take myself and life too seriously. It’s a good reminder to lighten up and laugh at myself more, because none of us are perfect.It’s a book for moms who need someone to say...”I’ve been there, I lived through it, let’s have a cup of coffee and laugh about it together.” Same Here, Sisterfriend truly is a little reward every time I pick it up and read a chapter. You'll want to share it with all of the mom friends in your life and others as well. In fact, I just had to read part of the book out loud to my husband because I needed someone to laugh with me.

This book is amazing! All mothers of any age will find it laugh out loud funny, yet very poignant at times!! I am about to loan it to a friend, but told her that I had to have it back! Caroline is one of the writers in the book and is one of my daughter' friends. Her blog, "My Husband is a Slug" is hilarious and her writing in this book is awesome! Each of the authors bring a different perspective, but in the end, they all realize that we need God in our daily lives.

I liked this book. I think the nature of the book- essays by different women- made me prefer some chapters over others, purely out of personal preference. Some things were just funnier to me than others. But overall, it's a really fun read and I think most moms would enjoy it. It's just the kind of thing I need to read in this super tired, still up frequently in the night season of life- something lighthearted and fun with some spiritual encouragement sprinkled throughout. The recommends at the back of the book are also a fun addition to the book.
