LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – A Las Vegas Metropolitan K9 officer is headed home after a stabbing last week.

On Wednesday, Las Vegas Metro police announced the good news by posting a video of Enzo with his handler. Police also thanked the public for the outpouring of support following the incident in a post on X.

Enzo an almost three-year-old Belgian Malinois is expected to remain off the job as the recovery process continues, according to Las Vegas Metro police.

On Friday, Enzo was seriously injured after responding to a barricade near the downtown Las Vegas area. It happened in the 1200 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard near Charleston Boulevard, according to police. The K9 was assisting officers as they talked down a suspect in the area when he was stabbed multiple times, police said.

Enzo was then airlifted to a local animal hospital where he went into surgery and remained in the ICU Friday night to continue receiving treatment. On Sunday, Enzo was reunited with his handler for the first time.

Enzo has been with LVMPD for approximately one year, police said.
