About Kathleen (Katie) Brown

 
Kathleen (Katie) Brown received her library degree from the Drexel University iSchool in 2006. The year prior, she completed her JD with an emphasis on intellectual property law. While in law school, Katie was a library intern at Seattle University Law School and a volunteer with Washington Lawyers for the Arts.
 
Ms. Brown’s research and scholarship are in intellectual property, acting skills for lawyers, legal technology, the business of law, process optimization, and various legal research topics. She teaches specialized, beginner, and advanced legal research courses. She also provides instruction in seminar and doctrinal courses on the issues of Legal Technology for Practice, Art of Advocacy, and Contracts. Ms. Brown has also previously served as an Adjunct Faculty member for the Meinder School of Business, Master of Science in Energy Legal Studies program in Oklahoma. 
 
Ms. Brown is a very active member of the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL). She has participated in various leadership roles throughout the Association’s Chapters and Special Interest Sections. She currently serves as the Chair of the AALL Economic Status of Law Librarians Committee. In 2011, Ms. Brown was honored to serve a three-year term on the AALL Executive Board.
 
Before her law librarianship career, Ms. Brown was an acting instructor in the Chicago area.
