Hala AlMossawi joins RTI as Vice President of Global Health

Research Triangle Park, N.C. – Dr. Hala AlMossawi has joined RTI International, a nonprofit research institute and leader in international development, as Vice President of Global Health within the International Development Group (IDG), where she will lead RTI’s work to strengthen health systems and combat infectious and noncommunicable diseases in low- and middle-income countries.    

Dr. AlMossawi is an accomplished global health professional with more than 24 years of experience as a technical expert, strategist, and leader at the implementing partner level, program level, with USAID, and with government ministries. As Vice President of Global Health, Dr. AlMossawi will provide strategic leadership and overall management for RTI’s global health portfolio. She will be responsible for ensuring excellence in program implementation and advancing RTI’s technical and scientific leadership.

RTI’s global health team focuses on strengthening health systems; controlling and eliminating neglected tropical diseases; improving reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health; addressing the global burden of noncommunicable diseases; and combatting malaria, HIV, and other infectious diseases.

Dr. AlMossawi joins RTI from University Research Co. (URC), where she provided leadership, management, and oversight of global health programming as Vice President of Program Implementation and Business Development. She has also served in the Global Health Bureau at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and as Chief of Party/Director of the USAID Primary Health Care Project in Iraq.
