Cole wrote the play after seeing an 1800's ad selling a mule for five dollars and a seventy-year-old enslaved woman for one-dollar. This award-winning drama about a woman's reflection on her own humanity has been performed at several Washington, D.C. venues.

Marietta House Museum is pleased to present A Matter of Worth. Set in 1855, this provocative drama tells the story of Hannah, a 73-year-old enslaved woman about to be sold at auction. As she reflects on her own humanity, Hannah proves to be of greater worth than any monetary value. Washington-native Marcia E. Cole penned this award-winning play after seeing a 19th century advertisement selling a mule for $5 and an elderly woman for $1. Her play gives voice to the women, men, and children who lived in and died in bondage.

Volunteers join Gus on stage to engineer a device for gathering water, build a unique toy from recycled materials and more! By the end of the play Gus and his friends use Science, Technology, Engineering and Math to find smart solutions to real-life issues. This show is designed to encourage young people to help the Earth through recycling, energy conservation, and creative thinking. The educational content in this show is recommended for Grades 2-6 (Ages 7-11). PLEASE NOTE: this show is replacing the previously scheduled We Can Do It.

The Get Fit Mobile unit will supply a range of fitness equipment to create a vibrant workout experience. This class will feature a fusion of bodyweight, strength, and cardio exercises. All fitness levels welcome! Please bring a mat or towel to class.

The Prince George's County All Comers Track Meet is a high-quality event with professional-quality timing, so runners can actively assess their ability and have a place to compete. Race officials will assess which runners will make up the best heats. Normally it works out that we have a lot of families that run these races, which can create a need for kids heats. We have young athletes, normally over 5 years old, high school athletes, college athletes, road racers of all ages participating in our All Comers Track Meets.

Runners will have the opportunity to compete in various events including the 100-meter dash, 400-meter run, 1-mile run, 200-meter, 800-meter, 4X100 relay.

Come watch future young stars perform and compete for $1,000 at the historic Publick Playhouse. Enjoy an entertaining night of music and fun for the entire family!
