TELL US ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE OF BEING CENSORED
at SSRN, medRxiv, etc…

“The all-wise Author of Nature...has made man, if I may say so, the immediate judge of mankind; and has in this respect, as in many others, created him after his own image, and appointed him his vicegerent upon earth, to superintend the behaviour of his brethren.”

—Adam Smith, The Theory of Moral Sentiments

To scholars who have had their papers delayed or denied publication on preprint servers such as SSRN or medRxiv, please tell us about it by filling out the following form. We want to collect information as to the extent of censorship perpetrated by these servers.

This website was created by and is managed by Stephen Walker. Feel free to email vicegerents@protonmail.com with any questions about this project.

About the form below:

  1. The form is easy and forgiving. You can go backward and forward, so revising or simply exiting the form is no problem.

  2. There is an open “Comments” field, where you can elaborate.

  3. If your experience has involved multiple papers delayed or denied and you do not want to submit the form multiple times, feel free to upload an Excel or Word file with a listing of the requested information for each paper.

  4. Our default is to not share ANY of your details—though the information would be utilized in aggregates (as in, “The responses show that X number of users/X number of papers have been censored.”) One of the prompts in the form asks you which details of yours you permit us to make public, and checking none of them is fine.

  5. After you complete and submit the form, an email will be sent to the email address you provide, an email providing a record and listing of the information contained in your submission (though the attachments you provided will not be included).

  6. If you have any questions or difficulties, write to me (Stephen) at vicegerents@protonmail.com

This website was created as a companion to the paper titled “SSRN and medRxiv Censor Counter-Narrative Science” published in Econ Journal Watch in the September 2023 issue by authors Jay Bhattacharya and Steve H. Hanke.
