Letter from the President
Dear PRSA Orlando,

February has arrived, bringing a diverse array of events designed to enrich our PRSA Orlando community. It's more than just enhancing our professional skills; it's about building connections, expanding our knowledge, and fostering a supportive network.

Here’s what’s on the agenda:

As we celebrate Black History Month in February, check out PRSA’s resources designed to help you champion diversity, equity, and inclusion through your public relations work.

Can't wait to see you soon!

Your friend,
Kimberly Devitt Brown, APR

Upcoming Programs and Events
Thursday, February 15

As PR professionals, we’ve handled a few crises throughout our careers; but what happens when it turns into a crisis you never imagined preparing for – your CEO and multiple associates indicted and convicted of running a horrendous criminal organization.

Join us for an intimate conversation about the Seminole County Tax Collector’s office public relations efforts through the Joel Greenberg scandal years. Learn from the office’s former PIO, Alan Byrd, about managing the national media attention and the situation’s aftermath. You’ll want to update your crisis plans after this program.

Become a mentor for PRSA Orlando’s Student Mentorship Program to provide communication and public relations students at colleges and universities across Central Florida the opportunity to engage with PR professionals in the area. Here is what one student had to say about their experience being mentored by chapter member and assembly delegate Heather Morgan, APR:

“I have loved every moment of having a mentor through PRSA Orlando. It not only has been critical in me gaining confidence as a soon-to-be PR professional, but it has also brought me much joy and needed support. I couldn’t have asked for more and am happy to be given such a wonderful opportunity.” - Deborah, University of Central Florida

If you’re interested in volunteering your time and expertise, please complete the Mentor Interest Form to be matched with a student for the upcoming semester. If you know a student or a young professional who is looking for a mentor, the Mentee Interest Form is available.

Securing an internship or entry level job is one of the main priorities for students. The PRSSA Internship Center is a tool that allows student members to explore opportunities across the country in all types of industries. Posting an opportunity on the Internship Center is one of the easiest ways to give back to the future of the public relations industry, especially considering there is no cost for organizations/individuals to post.
