Emmanuel Pepis enters his second year as coordinator of athletic communications at New Orleans. As part of his duties, Pepis also does play-by-play broadcasts for the women’s basketball and baseball teams and is the main contact for those sports along with tennis and track and field.

In the broadcasting arena, Pepis has worked at Loyola University-New Orleans and the University of New Orleans as a play-by-play broadcaster for volleyball, basketball, and baseball between the two schools. Pepis traveled with the Privateers baseball team for the 2014 season.

Pepis got his start in sports media by working as a sideline reporter for Ken Trahan’s Original Prep Football Report in 2003. Pepis was moved to in studio where he currently manages the state scoreboard by tracking down all prep football scores from outside the New Orleans area.

In 2007, Pepis started co-hosting a radio show entitled Prep Plus. Pepis helped tackle subjects such as GPA requirements, home-schooled athletes, and helped facilitate reporters for high school basketball games.

Pepis also has experience in radio production at WGSO 990 AM. Other duties at WGSO included recording and cutting commercials, putting together sports segments, and live news reads.

Currently, Pepis also maintains a blog at sportsnola.com, which has included game recap articles, covering live events, and opinion columns. He has also worked in conjunction with WHNO Channel 20, with his tasks including feature interviews, sideline reporting, and stand-ins for Sportsnola TV.

A Westbank native and Marrero resident, Pepis graduated from the University of New Orleans in December 2009 with a bachelor of arts in communications. Â
