Internships

Congresswoman Underwood (IL-14) offers paid Congressional internship opportunities throughout the year in her Washington, D.C. and Illinois offices. Congressional internships provide an opportunity for students and young people to directly participate in public service through supporting Rep. Underwood's constituent engagement and services, legislative research, communications and digital work, and Congressional office operations.

Interns work in-person in our Illinois or D.C. offices and gain experience with a broad range of experiences and responsibilities. These include constituent correspondence, planning and staffing virtual and in-person events, researching legislation, assisting with constituent casework and outreach, and attending and reporting on Congressional hearings and briefings on various legislative issues, among others. Interns also will work directly with the communication team, assisting with creating digital content, video clips, and graphics.

Our office offers three internship periods each year:

Spring internships run from January to May.
Summer internships run from May to August.
Fall internships run from August to December.
