Presidents' Day Serve Weekend

Feb 17 & 19 | Kansas City Area

Due to the potential for severe weather impacting the Kansas City area during MLK Weekend, we’ve made the decision to postpone our planned volunteer opportunities to Presidents’ Day Weekend. We invite you to join us for a day of service on either February 17 or 19. Choose from a variety of shifts, and consider bringing friends and family to experience the impact of God’s work alongside welcoming community agencies. Let’s come together on Presidents’ Day Weekend to make a meaningful impact in our community. Registration will be open soon.

North, The Musical

Jan. 27 | 2 pm | Yardley Hall, Johnson County Community College

“North” unfolds a compelling narrative, exploring the intricate facets of Black life during the antebellum period with a focus on freedom seekers.

Acknowledging the harsh realities of slavery, Ashli St. Armant’s original musical compositions delve into themes of optimism, bravery, and wonder. Suitable for ages 10 and up, the story follows Lawrence and his mother, Minnie, enslaved in 19th-century Louisiana. Faced with danger, they courageously decide to escape, navigating the complexities of the Underground Railroad. The tale, driven by relationships, grit, and humanity, reflects St. Armant’s personal connection to Vacherie, incorporating real-life characters and experiences.

We have 30 tickets available, and you can purchase up to 6 discounted tickets at $20 each. Register using the button below.
