Biography

2021 (Redshirt Junior): Earned Second Team All-American Athletic Conference honors... Led the team with six wins... His 91 strikeouts and 78.2 innings pitched ranked second on the team... Opened the year with a seven strikeout performance in 5.1 innings of work against Louisiana-Lafayette (2/19)... Authored a masterful performance against eventual national championship Mississippi State (2/26), as he worked 8.0 innings and struck out six to pick up his first win of the year... Collected his second win of the year after he went 7.0 innings and struck out nine at Troy (3/12)... Totaled 11 strikeouts in in 7.0 innings against nationally-ranked Louisiana Tech (3/19)... Notched 10 strikeouts in the Green Wave's 3-1 win over Wichita State (4/16)... Logged a season-high 12 strikeouts against Houston and tied a season-high with 8.0 strikeouts... Closed out the season on a high note, posting 10 strikeouts against Wichita State (5/28) in the AAC Championship.

2020 (Junior): 2020 Collegiate Baseball All-America Second Team...Named American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week in consecutive weeks and one of the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper National Athletes of the Week… Was named the Allstate Sugar Bowl Amateur Athlete of the Month for February and the LSWA Pitcher of the Month for February… Ranked second in the NCAA in wins, third in strikeouts, fourth in complete games, sixth in WHIP, (0.54) 14th in strikeout/walk ratio (15.67) and 15th in K/9 (15.11)...Made four starts on the mound as Tulane’s Friday night starter in his first season with the Green Wave… Led Tulane’s pitching staff in ERA, wins, shutouts, innings pitched, strikeouts, walks allowed and complete games… Went 4-0 on the season with a 0.32 ERA, with one complete game shutout and combined shutout… In 28.0 innings, struck out 47 batters while allowing only three walks, giving up four runs, one earned, on 12 hits and an opponent batting average of .128… Struck out 10 in debut against Florida Gulf Coast, allowing three runs, one earned, on six hits in win (2/14)… On the road at Cal State Fullerton, tossed the third-most strikeouts in a single game with 16 as he allowed just three hits and one walk in nine innings in 1-0 win over the Titans (2/21)… Pitched the first six innings of what would be the first Tulane no-hitter since 2005, striking out eight in the opener against Middle Tennessee (2/28)… Struck out 13 and allowed an unearned run on three hits in seven innings against Southern (3/6).

Prior to Tulane: Spent two seasons at Palomar College in California, appearing in 30 games with 13 starts… Sported a 6-1 record with five saves in a first team all-conference season as a sophomore, allowing 19 runs on 41 hits with 75 strikeouts and 23 walks… In 68 innings of work had an ERA of 2.51, making 16 appearances and eight starts… As a freshman, appeared in 14 games with five starts, earning a 1-1 record… In 37.1 innings pitched allowed 24 runs, 17 earned with 47 strikeouts and six walks for an ERA of 4.10.
 
High School: Was a two-year letterman at El Camino High School in Oceanside, California, serving as both a pitcher and outfielder… Was a first team All-Avocado West conference selection as a senior, going 5-3 on the mound with a 1.56 ERA on the year, striking out 75 and holding opponents to a .187 batting average… Was named team captain as a senior, while also being named the El Camino Player of the Year, team MVP and pitcher of the year… Was a scholar athlete selection as a freshman, sophomore and as a senior.
 
Personal: Full name is Braden Richard Olthoff, born March 12… Parents are David Olthoff and Melissa Heffron… Has one brother and one sister… Intends to major in communications.
