In Judaism, tzedakah is not merely an act of giving; it is a commitment of faith. Although many people believe the Hebrew word tzedakah means charity, the word’s roots convey much more – a combination of righteousness, fairness, and justice. Today, each gift to Temple Beth El reflects that tradition. Contributions provide inspiring worship services led by our Rabbi, stimulating educational opportunities for children and adults, Jewish cultural programming, connection and caring for our congregational community, fulfillment of our strong commitment to tikkun olam (repairing the world) and k’lal Israel (the Jewish community worldwide), membership to all who wish to join regardless of ability to pay full dues, and maintenance of our buildings and grounds.

Thank you for considering your donation to Temple Beth El of Williamsburg. Synagogues cannot rely on dues alone to support the programs and services we provide. Like universities, museums and orchestras, religious organizations must find additional means to supplement revenue.

There are several ways our members and friends can provide the funds needed to enhance synagogue life with religious services and programs for our families and children, as well as secure and maintain our building and property.

If you choose to donate to the General Fund your donation will go where it is most needed. A program may need a little more funding, new prayer books may be needed, sometimes the refrigerator leaks. Just as with any household budget, it’s a good idea to have a cushion to keep the synagogue running smoothly. There are other funds you can support to help ensure a rich and safe Jewish life for you and your family.

We are a non-profit organization and your gift is tax deductible to the extent permitted by law.
