Description

Ohioans To Stop Execution is seeking a Social Media Manager Intern

  • The Social Media Manager Intern is ideally someone looking for experience in digital content creation & management, as well as in social media marketing and communication for ongoing criminal legal reform campaigns. 
  • Compensation: $1000 stipend

The Social Media Manager’s roles will include:

  • Working closely with and reporting to the Executive Director and the Tony Apanovitch Clemency Campaign Manager to create and boost weekly social media content: 
  • With specific attention to content instrumental in repealing the death penalty, elevating cases of  those wrongfully sentenced to death, and advancing the case of  Tony Apanovitch, a wrongfully convicted person on Ohio’s death row.
  • Assisting in generating scripts for and editing of weekly videos recorded by the Clemency Campaign Manager, and others, to give updates on issues and  cases, and reminding online audiences of actions that can support the campaigns.


The Social Media Manager Intern's measures of success will be: 

  • Plan & develop a social media content calendar for relevant platforms (TikTok, Instagram, and X/Twitter) to include stories, photos, and videos 
  • Leverage measurement tools to provide progress reports and insights, while continually finding ways to improve on those metrics through testing and new initiatives 
  • Work jointly with others to develop and amplify campaigns conducted throughout OTSE and to include OTSE messages and partnerships 
  • Respond to audience on social media 
  • Post at least once each week across each platform of TikTok, Instagram, and X/Twitter
  • Ensure all online efforts and messaging are consistent with the values, overall story, and voice for OTSE campaigns 
  • Occasional evening and weekend work will be required due to the always on nature of social media 

Requirements: 

  • Interest in organization and execution of successful social media campaigns 
  • Demonstrated success in growing social media presence on multiple platforms resulting in greater followers and audience engagement 
  • Understanding of social media Key Performance Indicators
  • Ability to assist with tracking and interpreting metrics to enhance user engagement, suggest content optimization 
  • Intermediate level of Canva and Adobe Photoshop or other photo & video editing software
  • Strong writing, organizational, project management, and time management skills 
  • Self-motivated but also able to effectively collaborate, work in teams, and build good working relationships across multiple stakeholders
  • Reliable and consistent work ethic with ability to communicate directly and professionally
  • Remote working option
