The following message was shared with Ohio University students on Thursday, Sept. 29, by Interim Dean of Students Kathy Fahl, MSW.

Dear Bobcats,

As you know, Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2022, is Election Day in Ohio.

Please review the following dates and information to ensure that you are registered to vote or have updated your address and voter information. You can find detailed information on the Ohio Secretary of State's website about registering to vote in Ohio at https://www.ohiosos.gov/elections/voters/ and the Athens County Board of Elections website at https://www.boe.ohio.gov/athens/.

Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2022, is the last day to register to vote, change your address, and update your voter information.

If you plan to vote in Athens for the election, you must change your address by Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2022. You can register to vote or update your voter registration information online at https://olvr.ohiosos.gov.

If you plan to vote absentee from your permanent home address, please contact the Board of Elections in your home county to request an absentee ballot.  Step by step instructions for voting by mail can be found at  https://www.ohiosos.gov/elections/voters/how-to-request-your-absentee-ballot/.

Students who live in residence halls will receive a letter via email to verify your on-campus address. This electronic letter will be sent to you twice, once on Monday, Oct. 3, and again on Thursday, Nov. 3. Please check your email on these days for your letter. Print your letter and bring a hard copy of your verification letter when you vote. Electronic versions of your letter will not be accepted.

  • Bromley Hall and Voigt Hall residents vote at the First Presbyterian Church at 2 N. Court St.
  • Students living in all other residence halls vote at Baker University Center 240/242.

Off-campus students, Ohio University is not able to provide you with an address verification letter.

Out-of-state students can learn about voter registration and polling locations in their states at www.nonprofitvote.org/voting-in-your-state/.

Social Distancing Guidelines will be in place as directed by the Athens City/County Health Department and the CDC.

If you choose in-person early voting, check the weather for the day.  Long lines are expected and may form outside.
