I am a Colorado-born and Houston, Texas raised artist based out of New Orleans, LA. I am Tulane grad with a major in psychology and studio art with an emphasis in printmaking. My mediums also include: drawing, graphic design, photography, and glassblowing.
My art reflects my love of the actual process of creating the work itself.The process is equally, if not more important as the final piece itself. The continuous repetition of the physical action of printing becomes a meditative experience that allows me to escape out of both my head and body. Screen printing each individual unit of each piece to then come together to create one overall aesthetic or feeling. My wallpapers are mere evidence of this love for the process. The act of screen printing all 60 individual units of my wallpaper and then individually placing and installing each individual one is a demonstration of my love of process.
While each piece is guaranteed to create a different feeling from the others, they all involve various bodily images to convey a different set of emotional and physical states of mind. These works demonstrate the relationship I have with my body. Almost a decade ago I was diagnosed with a chronic pain disease and since then much of my art has been focused on that relationship. Since having an autoimmune disease leaves me more susceptible to a variety of other issues it constantly makes me reassess this relationship. As seen in my piece, Acid Dreams, what is seen through the window is an image of my digestive system taken from a recent endoscopy I had. The image through the window allows you to take a look inside of my personal day-to-day life and the internal struggles I continuously deal with with my body. My work illustrates my investigation of my complicated relationship with my body.
