Megan N. Reed

I am an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Emory University. I completed my PhD in Sociology and Demography at the University of Pennsylvania in May 2022. My research employs mixed methods to examine gender and family dynamics in both India and the United States. My published work has appeared in Journal of Marriage and Family, Social Science Research, Socius, Demographic Research, and Population Studies.

 In 2019, I was awarded the Etienne van de Walle biennial prize for the best graduate student paper in demography at the University of Pennsylvania. In addition, my doctoral work was supported by numerous grants including the Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowship (FLAS), the NIH NICHD T-32 Training Fellowship in Demography, and Penn's GAPSA-Provost Fellowship for Interdisciplinary Innovation. Prior to my graduate studies, I was the Research Coordinator at the Center for the Advanced Study of India at the University of Pennsylvania and a Fulbright-Nehru Student Research Fellow in India. I also hold a B.A. in International Studies from the University of Arizona.
