Wear your crown Proud

Helping Monarchs Earn Their Crown Proudly

We were challenged with the task of helping African American and Latinx students know the resources available to them at ODU while reducing the stigma of asking for help. To tackle this we had to re-imagine how students are introduced to the resources, and that's we Wear your Crown proud comes in. This program helps students learn and use their resources in a map quest style program in which they will complete their tasks in groups together and log their experiences along the way. We want students to be able to use each resources on campus in a controlled experience so that they will be prepared when a need arises later in their time at ODU.

Students will be rewarded with prizes along the way. The student team with the most King's Log wins will earn a grand prize at the end of the program.

How might we communicate about campus resources for AA & LX in a way that raises awareness and reduces stigma of getting help?

We learned from other students and applied their input at each step of our design.

The Wear your Crown proud program helps students learn about ODU resources and create lasting connections in a team-based setting.
