Homeless advocates in the South Bay assured that no people in the street will be left with empty stomachs for Thanksgiving.
San Jose’s City Team Ministries’ volunteers prepared as early as 2:00 in the morning to start food preparation, of course with 60 turkeys, and other dishes for the hungry persons to feast on for the holiday.
Patricio Buendia brought 200 homemade turkey burritos and chile verde at St. James Park across town.
Tom Le and his group from KV Noodle, were meanwhile nearby, to help for the eighth year in a row.
An estimated 300 individuals were served with dinner by executive chef Reynolds Stewart and crew back at City Team. The group will continue the activity tomorrow, KRON4 reported.
An advocate for social justice, GLIDE, also held the yearly Thanksgiving brunch in San Francisco, as reported by ABC7.
The team marked its second year to provide prepared and boxed food served outdoors. They served breakfast from 7:30 to 9 in the morning while brunch was from 11 in the morning to 1 in the afternoon.
The meal preparation got extra hands in the person of San Francisco Mayor London Breed, Police Chief William Scott, and Fire Chief Jeanine Nicholson who appeared on Thursday morning.
GLIDE targets to provide over 2, 000 meal packages to homeless shelters around the city. Included in the number are the 225 boxed lunches.
