The Network is involved with many projects in the state. The Network believes that it is important to build coordinated relationships statewide to further assist victims of violence and their families.

Training and Technical Assistance: The SDNAFVSA provides training and technical assistance to its member programs through quarterly meetings, training and annual conferences addressing the issues of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence and stalking.

Free Civil Legal Services for Victims: (please note that the services are free, but clients may be responsible for court costs or other applicable fees)
Three attorneys are accepting referrals for survivors who are needing civil legal assistance as a result of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and/or stalking. These services are free and are available to any survivor east of the Missouri River dependent upon availability of existing resources. Please contact your local domestic violence shelter/agency for more information or call The Network at 605-731-0041.
The training team consists of a law enforcement officer, a prosecutor and a victim advocate. The team provides a 6 hour training on sexual assault and domestic violence issues. The team goes to the local communities and jurisdictions.

Rural Outreach Services: Rural outreach services are offered in many counties in South Dakota where there have not been services for battered women, their children and victims of violence. For more information, please contact The Network office.
Legislative updates: The Network provides weekly updates during the South Dakota Legislative session for the membership. Federal legislative updates are provided for the membership periodically.
Emergency Services Funding: The Network has limited funding to assist victims working with member agencies with emergency services needs such as bus tickets or gas cards to relocate to a safer location, hotel/motel rooms if there is a not a shelter in their area or they are not able to stay in the shelter, replacement of items that are broken during an assault, and other needs that are related to the abuse. To access funding, victims need to contact their nearest member agency for assistance and have no other resources to meet the emergency services need.
Interested in becoming a member? The Network has four options:
Agency Members ($200/year) – any organization in South Dakota whose purpose includes providing services with a specific program or focus on family violence, sexual assault, and serving victims of crime through: education, information and referral, and/or shelter and/or crisis intervention.
Voting rights of agency members are limited to
- the election of the Officers of the Board of Directors of The Network,
- the voting on the adoption of amendments to the Articles of Incorporation,
- the voting on the acceptance of a Restatement of Article of Incorporation,
- the right to referendum regarding amendments to the Bylaws

Individual Members ($45/year) - any person or organization concerned with family violence and sexual assault in South Dakota is eligible for supporting membership. Individual members have no voting rights. Individual members may participate on Network committees and may vote within the committee process. Individual members may be reimbursed travel expenses to attend one Network meeting annually.
Survivors (No Annual Dues) - any person self- identifying as a survivor of violence may be eligible for limited membership benefits for no cost. Survivors have no board voting rights. Survivors may participate on Network committees and may vote within the committee process. Survivors may be reimbursed travel expenses to attend Network meetings and trainings as scholarships are available.
Students (No Annual Dues) - any person providing verification of postsecondary education may be eligible for limited membership benefits. Students have no board voting rights. Students may participate on Network committees and may vote within the committee process. Students may be reimbursed travel expenses to attend Network meetings and trainings as scholarships are available.
