Young Harris College, a small, selective, predominantly residential liberal arts college located in the mountains of northeast Georgia, invites applications for the position of Director of Admissions. Reporting to the Provost and serving on the Provost’s Council, the Director is the College’s chief recruitment officer, responsible for overseeing all policies and procedures relevant to recruiting and admitting undergraduate and graduate degree-seeking students, and for supervising all Admissions Office employees.
Young Harris’s new Director of Admissions will build upon a recent history of success during times of change. Having partnered with industry leaders Liaison and EAB, Young Harris has experienced a 45% increase in undergraduate applications and acceptances in 2020. And despite widespread challenges resulting from the coronavirus pandemic, the fall 2020 incoming cohort will be the largest at YHC in three years, with the second-largest number of first-year students in the College’s history.
The Director also has responsibility for admitting students to the College’s first graduate degree program, a hybrid-delivery Master of Arts in Teaching that began in 2019 and has more than doubled in enrollment in 2020. A second graduate program to serve the needs of local and regional communities is planned for the coming year, pending approval by SACSCOC, the College’s regional accreditor. The Director of Admissions also coordinates with the Director of Early College & Distance Learning to support dual enrollment students online and at multiple partner high schools in Georgia.
The ideal candidate is a creative, energetic leader and developer of talent who understands the decision-making habits of prospective college students, can communicate the College’s value proposition via multiple social media platforms, and has a thorough understanding of traditional and emerging admissions practices. This full-time, exempt staff position requires an earned bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution, at least three years of recent experience in college admissions, and experience as a supervisor. A master’s degree and at least five years of recent experience in college admissions are strongly preferred.
Applicants who would enrich the diversity of the campus community are strongly encouraged to apply. EOE M/F/D/V
