HCPS continues to build its portfolio of trusted digital resources. In order to streamline things for teachers, HCPS utilized the resources provided by&nbsp;1EdTech's TrustedEd Apps&nbsp;Dashboard to create a digital resource dashboard in Canvas. Digital Resources are added to the dashboard as they are approved as either essential or supplemental. Approval requires the instructional application of digital resources to be evaluated from the content supervisor as well the resources going through a review that considers student data privacy, accessibility, technology security, and integration into our digital ecosystem (student access and course rostering). The TrustEd Apps Dashboard is located in Canvas. The August 2023 update includes tiles that have been removed from start.hcps.org and digital resources now available in Canvas. Be sure to check the weekly Shifting to Canvas newsletter for additional digital resource updates.

The Canvas FAQ course, has been updated and has a new name...the Innovation in Learning Resource Course. The course is comprised of support materials for Canvas, databases and HCPS approved digital resources. These include documents containing teacher and students directions, webinars, videos and more. Make sure you check these resources often since they will be updated frequently.

How do I access digital resources if they aren't located in Course Navigation?

Some digital resources need to be added to modules or assignments by the teacher.

Which digital tools are added under Apps?

Some digital tools can be added as an app (plug icon).  This is found in the Rich Content Editor (RCE) in Canvas.

Where are students resources located in Canvas?

When an elementary student opens a course, they can view the digital resources their teacher has enabled for that course under the Resources tab.

When a secondary student opens a course, they can view the digital resources their teacher has enabled for that course in Course Navigation.

Can all HCPS approved digital tools be accessed in Canvas?

Some approved HCPS digital tools can be not be accessed in Canvas. Teachers and Students will need to access these tools using the link for Clever.

How do I enable resources in course navigation?

Teachers can manage the digital resources students see in their course by enabling/disabling them under Settings. If students do not need access to a digital resource in your course, then disable that resource. This will reduce what is visible for students in course navigation.
