San Juan Islands Travel Advisory

Our goal is to protect community residents, workers, and guests in San Juan County. Please partner with us to take the necessary precautions for all of us to stay safe by following public health guidelines.

COVID-19 Alert - Beginning March 12, 2022:

In line with Governor Inslee's order, the mask mandate for San Juan County will be lifted.

  • This will eliminate indoor masking requirements, including in schools - but please note that some settings, including healthcare facilities and long-term care facilities, will still have masking requirements in place.
  • There are also federal requirements in place for transportation systems, including Washington State Ferries and air travel that may continue to require masking.
  • There will still be families, individuals, and businesses that choose to keep masks on. That’s a perfectly reasonable approach and should be met with understanding.
  • Please be patient as businesses, individuals, and organizations work to adjust to the lifting of masking requirements. The first couple of days of any transition are always a little clunky and it will take time for signs to come down and everyone to recalibrate.

We will continue to monitor the situation as we work together with town and county officials to protect the people and places we love.

We wish everyone health and wellness,

The San Juan Islands Visitors Bureau Staff & Board
