Camilla residents receive free groceries

The 34N22- the Hershel Walker Super PAC has provided more that $10,000 to go towards residents and their groceries.

The Republican Senate nominee for the state of Georgia brought a big surprise to Camilla residents by passing out $50 credit for groceries at Hendricks and Hays Grocery Store.

"Groceries cost so much I be wanting to walk out the store," said Lisa Jess.

According to Trading Economics the cost of groceries have increased 22% in the month of May and are just continuing to rise.

“People are thinking about how they’re going to eat tomorrow and how they’re going to eat tonight. When they wake up in the morning for their kids you know it’s summer time and kids are getting out of school and eating more,” said Darel Davis.

This reality is placing a heavy toll on Camilla residents, some saying they had to make major sacrifices to keep food on their tables.

"I had to cut back. Cut back for sure. I had to eat things I wouldn’t normally eat. Going in the beans on the cabinet," said Sharon Neal.

"I have to go in my bill money to buy groceries and lack on my bills” said Tullicio Marshall.

With Camilla being a rural town with little choices for grocery shopping, Stephan Lawson says this was the perfect place to provide this financial assistance.

"We’re trying to reach out to rural communities. You know rural communities are hurting so much right now at the grocery store at the gas pump and everywhere in between so really were just trying to give back and make sure they know there’s a choice on the ballot” Stephen Lawson, 34N22- the Herschel Walker Super Pac.
