Although it might sound like the latest trend for waist watchers, the PCE deflator actually has nothing to do with your diet. It’s a term used by economists no matter what they’re eating.

The PCE deflator or Personal Consumption Expenditure Deflator is a measure of inflation based on changes in personal consumption. It comes out when GDP comes out.
