GHSA 2022 Annual Meeting

GHSA 2022 Annual Meeting
September 17–21, 2022
Louisville Marriott Downtown
Louisville, Kentucky

Colleagues and partners from across the country joined in Derby City in September as we redefined possible in traffic safety.

General sessions considered the unique safety needs and opportunities in rural communities, how automated vehicles continue to impact driver behavior, the role of behavioral safety in the Safe System approach and what states can do to reduce distracted driving. Breakout workshops dove into an array of topics, including engaging underserved communities and partners, alcohol- and drug-impaired driving, speeding, micromobility, innovative communications campaigns, pedestrians and bicyclists, and teen and older driver safety.

This was an opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations about trends, resources and new ideas, to leave with a fresh perspective on how to redefine possible for the communities you serve. The meeting also provided sponsorship, partnership and exhibit opportunities to help your organization interact with key U.S. highway safety leaders and decision-makers.

Webcasts

Recognizing that not everyone can travel, GHSA webcast several Annual Meeting sessions to allow highway safety professionals unable to be in Louisville to benefit from the expert discussion, recordings of which are now available below.

Webinars

GHSA held two informative pre-Annual Meeting webinars to whet your appetite for Louisville! You can watch the recordings below.

Vehicle Recalls

With more than 53 million vehicles on the road today with open recalls, innovative programs are needed not only to notify owners, but also spur them to take action. This webinar, sponsored by Honda, showcased how a vehicle manufacturer, local law enforcement agency, Safe Kids Coalition and home visitor program incorporated vehicle recalls into their community-based programs and bolstered engagement. Experts shared what worked and didn’t, as well as what’s next.

Occupant Protection

The nationwide seat belt use rate was 90.4% in 2021. What is it going to take to get that remaining 9.6% of motor vehicle occupants to buckle up? Innovative programs are needed to address this pervasive issue and make sure everyone is properly restrained in a seat belt or child safety seat. In this webinar, sponsored by the Auto Glass Safety Council, experts from public health, community organizations, the private sector and law enforcement shared what approaches they’re taking to improve the safety of vehicle occupants.
