The qualifying period for the Office of Councilmember begins at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Monday, August 12, 2024 and ends at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Thursday, August 22, 2024.

If you are interested in becoming a candidate, kindly schedule an appointment with the Village Clerk by calling 305-365-5506 or emailing: jkoch@keybiscayne.fl.gov

A candidate or individual may also qualify by mail or by drop off (Village of Key Biscayne, Office of the Village Clerk, 88 W. McIntyre St. Suite, 220, Key Biscayne, Fl 33149) during the qualifying period as long as all of the qualifying paperwork is complete and received by the Village Clerk by the close of the qualifying period. If there are errors, missing or incomplete forms received, there is a risk that the candidate or individual may not qualify. Also, a postmark date prior to the close of qualifying but received by the Village Clerk after the qualifying period ends is untimely filed and thus the candidate or individual would not qualify. If a candidate or individual does not end up qualifying, their name will not be placed on the ballot. Therefore, an in-person appointment is preferred.

Please note, 14 days prior to the start of a qualifying period, qualifying documents can be submitted to the Village Clerk for a review of the qualifying documents, but no candidate or individual can qualify prior to the start of each qualifying period.

The vacant offices for the 2024 Election are:

  • Mayor (2-year term)
  • 3 Council Members (4-year terms)
