Aarhus School of Architecture
The Aarhus School of Architecture is an institution of higher education under the Danish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Higher Education, which has as its objective to offer, on an artistic and scientific level, education in architecture until the highest level, to practice artistic innovation work, and, on a scientific basis, to carry out research within the field of architecture. We carry out research and teaching on all levels of scale of the architectural profession — from design and architecture to urbanism, urban landscapes and physical planning. Regardless of the area of study, we always emphasize the core competences of the architect, the artistic approach to assignments and the ability to work spatially as well as visually. In our workshops scholars, teachers and students produce models and prototypes, often in full-scale. The School’s vision is “Engaging through Architecture,” which means that we focus on educating architects who are aware of the responsibilities they have as designers of our future material and immaterial surroundings and who are able to engage actively and critically with society. The School’s focus areas for the coming years will be Habitation, Transformation and Sustainability. We also focus on Research by Design and on developing new teaching methods (didactics).
Brown University Urban Studies Program
The Urban Studies Program at Brown University offers a B.A. in Urban Studies. The program equips undergraduate students to analyze urban life in the United States and around the planet through a variety of disciplinary lenses drawn from the humanities and social sciences. Students learn to apply both qualitative and quantitative methods for scholarly research and community engagement. They explore the history of cities, urban and suburban growth and transformation, the organization and design of built, social, and natural environments, urban politics and policy, and the role of cities and urbanization in art, culture, and public life. Diné College is the oldest tribally controlled college in North America. Founded in 1944, the Architecture Department, in the Robert R. Taylor School of Architecture and Construction Science, is one of Tuskegee University’s oldest academic programs. The department preserves Booker T. The Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design at the University of Arkansas houses professional design programs of architecture, landscape architecture and interior design together with liberal studies programs. All of these programs combine studio design education with innovative teaching in history, theory, technology and urban design. The University of New Mexico was founded by an act of the Territorial Legislature in 1889. In 1936, the first architectural concentration was established with the College of Fine Arts, and in 1956, a five-year architectural program was established in the Division of Architecture, responsible to both the College of Engineering and the College of Fine Arts. The degree evolved into a 4+2 program in 1969. In 1968, the Community + Regional Planning program was established, growing out of the research initiatives of the faculty. The Landscape Architecture Department was later established in 2000. In 2017, the three academic programs were converted to Departments, led by Chairs. The School of Architecture + Planning is the only university to confer professional, accredited degrees in the three disciplines in the state of New Mexico. SA+P also offers graduate certificates in Historic Preservation and Urban Innovation.
In 2008, the SA+P moved into a new building, designed by world renowned New Mexican architect, Antoine Predock, who won the competition to design the building. The new building was named George Pearl Hall in honor of local architect George Clayton Pearl. Dean Robert Alexander González serves as the School’s seventh Dean, following the interim deanship of Mark Childs (2019-2020) and Dean Geraldine Forbes Isais (2010-2019).

University of Puerto Rico School of Architecture
Established in 1903, the University of Puerto Rico is the only public institution of higher education serving the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. Today the university consists of eleven campuses; it has an enrollment of approximately 50,000 students and a faculty of 4,000. The School of Architecture, established in 1966 and located in the heart of the capital city of San Juan, has an enrollment of several hundred students and is accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board. Its academic programs include a Bachelor of Environmental Design, a two-track Master of Architecture for students with or without pre-professional degrees, and an online Master of Project Management. All degrees are offered in Spanish, representing an option for licensing to Hispanics globally.
The SoA is unique in its contributions to Puerto Rican research and practice, in particular to the challenges posed by the island’s crippling debt, severe population exodus, and difficult recovery from recent hurricanes and earthquakes. The SoA responds to societal challenges and climate change by proactively renewing key critical and innovative goals.

UT Austin School of Architecture
The UT Austin School of Architecture melds theory and practice. The faculty include many reflective practitioners who are accomplished in the fields of architecture, planning, landscape architecture, preservation, and interior design. The faculty also advance theory through research, writing and exhibitions, and have a broad range of expertise in architectural history, building systems, technology, sustainability, transportation, Latin American architecture, and urbanism, and the built environment. This scholarship is advanced through the Center for American Architecture and Design, the Center for Sustainable Development, and the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. The school has made a conscious effort to reject disciplinary boundaries along departmental lines. The School of Architecture at Victoria University of Wellington-Te Herenga Waka offers five in environmental planning and design: Urban and Regional Planning, Architecture, Building Science, Landscape Architecture, and Interior Architecture. All share a common undergraduate first year after which students specialize in one of the majors prior to starting a Masters and PhD.
The School honors the Treaty of Waitangi. Signed in 1840 by the chiefs of Aotearoa New Zealand and the British Crown, this is the founding document of the nation.
