Know Before You Go
Activities
While the park provides access to the listed activities, Travis County Parks does not provide any equipment.
Amenities
There is no electricity or drinking water.
Frequent Park Closures
This park closes during hazardous trail conditions usually caused by rain events. Visitors are strongly encouraged to avoid park trails during and after rain events.
Rugged Terrain
Due to the park's rugged terrain, steep inclines and variable lake levels, parents with young children are advised to exercise extreme caution, or consider visiting one of the many other Travis County Parks nearby.
Zebra Mussels
Zebra Mussels have been found along the shoreline of our lake parks. Swimmers and others seeking water-based recreation should exercise caution when in or near the water.

We accept cash but do not accept credit or debit cards at the entrance booth.

About
Tom Hughes Park is located in the basin area of Lake Travis near Mansfield Dam, in the scenic Hill Country of central Texas. The lower section of the park consists of steep limestone outcroppings and boulders along the shoreline, while the upper elevations consist of thick juniper and oak woodlands.
Tom Hughes Park is an excellent place to swim, sunbathe, or just watch the sunset over Lake Travis. A number of primitive trails with steep inclines lead down to the water's edge, providing close-up views of an unusual diversity of Hill Country flora.
Tom Hughes is one of the less heavily visited parks due to its limited parking and rugged terrain.
