The University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK) Office of Innovative Technologies (OIT) High Performance & Scientific Computing (HPSC) group, in partnership with the UTK Office of Research, Innovation, and Economic Development (ORIED), will be hosting a 2023 Artificial Intelligence Research Computing Symposium via Zoom on Wednesday, May 17, 2023. The presentations and discussions at this meeting will inform up to $1M in new investments to expand UT’s AI-relevant computing capabilities this year.

This Symposium will bring together and engage the UTK research community across all disciplines to discuss computing for AI as part of the UT AI Tennessee Initiative. The Symposium will include: (1) presentations from researchers on computing-intensive AI topics, (2) information on resources currently available to UT’s AI researchers, and (3) opportunities to discuss needs and recommendations around computing resources and support for UT’s AI computing community.

This symposium contributes to the “infrastructure” component of the AI Tennessee Initiative, which aims to build up the computational, data, and support infrastructure to advance transdisciplinary AI research and education. More broadly, the AI Tennessee Initiative is engaging with academic, industry, and community partners across Tennessee to leverage the benefits of AI across all disciplines and economic sectors in areas such as smart manufacturing, climate-smart agriculture and forestry, precision health and environment, future mobility, AI for science, and much more. Our goal is to make life and lives better through AI research and education.

Do I Need to Register?

No registration is required and each Zoom session will be limited to the first 300 people (if we get that many this will be a real success!). To facilitate recording we will have multiple Zoom sessions. All Zoom session links will be provided in the Agenda table below.

Google Document for Notes, Comments, and Feedback

We have created an AI Symposium “Google document” that is shared editable with al of UTK. This document will be for notes, comments, links, and feedback. The document link is
