Congratulations to two of our Franklinton neighbors, Ohio Humanities grantee We Amplify Voices and our friends at Franklinton Farms, for being named among The Columbus Foundation's 5 Nonprofits to Watch in 2024!
Today marks the 60th anniversary of Jerrie Mock's historic takeoff! On March 19, 1964, Jerrie embarked on her solo flight around the world, etching her name in aviation history. With her trusty Cessna, the 'Spirit of Columbus,' she soared from Port Columbus International Airport into the skies with unwavering determination and a trailblazing spirit. Jerrie Mock's journey embodies the courage, determination, and resilience that define The Spirit of Columbus. Yesterday, we commemorated the start of her journey by announcing the 5 Nonprofits to Watch in 2024—a group of local nonprofits that, like Jerrie, demonstrate boldness in their actions, optimism amidst the unexpected, and an incredible spirit. Meet this year's organizations at https://lnkd.in/grb9FBJn. Jerrie Mock's courage in the face of uncertainty, challenges, and headwinds serves as an inspiration to us all!

Cleveland’s Cory United Methodist was born a Jewish synagogue and community center. Then, it evolved into a Christian church and became one of the nation’s most noteworthy centers of civil rights activism. Now, led by a passionate young pastor, the landmark that hosted crusaders from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. to Malcolm X is fighting not for equality but for its life. In the feature story for this year's issue of Lumen, award-winning journalist Joe Blundo dives into Cory's history as the church looks to its future:
