2022: Pitched in 15 games, making 14 starts ... Went 4-5 with a 6.66 ERA in 52.2 innings ... Gave up 55 hits, 43 runs, 39 earned, with 45 strikeouts and 30 walks ... Season-best start of seven innings of one-hit ball in a shutout win over W&M. He struck out five and walked three ... First start of the season went four innings, allowing one run with a pair of strikeouts ... After starting the first game of the day, came back for the second game of the day against LA Tech in the C-USA Tournament. Pitched three innings and gave up two runs with four strikeouts and a walk.

2021: Made 15 starts,  tying for the most on the team ... Was 1-2 with a 4.95 ERA ... Pitched 56.1 innings, allowed 51 hits, while striking out 54 with 23 walks ... Opponents hit .238 off the lefty ... Did not allow an earned run until his third start of the season, as he pitched four innings (one unearned run) against NSU and 4.2 shutout innings in the win at No. 17 East Carolina ... Gave up just one run in four innings in the win over Ball State ... Went a season-long 5.2 innings at Charlotte, giving up four runs, three earned with four strikeouts ... Started against FAU in the C-USA Tournament, going 4.2 innings and giving up two runs while striking out four ... In the NCAA Regionals, he started the Regional Final against Virginia, pitching 3.1 innings and allowing six hits and five runs, striking out one and walking one. 

2020: Made three starts, tossing 7.0 innings, compiling a 1.29 ERA... ODU's primary midweek starter.... Earned one win against VMI (3/3)... Recorded four strikeouts... Opponents hit just .192 off him. 

2019: Pitched in 13 games, making 12 starts ... Went 2-0 with a 2.95 ERA, best by a starter ... Struck out 40 with 19 walks ... Opponents hit a team-low .156 off the lefty ... Pitched 42.2 innings, allowing 23 hits and 14 earned runs ... First outing of the year was a three inning start against VMI, allowing two hits and no runs ... Second start was a four inning shutout against Campbell, striking out five and allowing two hits ... Scoreless streak to begin the season ended at nine innings, as he gave up his first two runs of the season, one earned, against William and Mary ... Pitched 6.2 innings of one-hit ball against Princeton, striking out five and walking one to earn his first win of the season ... Allowed two runs or less in every appearance but one.

AT OAKTON CC: Had a standout freshman season for Oakton Community College in 2018, going 10-1 with a 2.44 ERA, two saves and 103 strikeouts in 96 innings ... Led Oakton a NJCAA Division III World Series title and was named World Series MVP ... Tossed 14 1/3 innings, struck out 12 batters and allowed 4 earned runs in the World Series ... Also named a Second Team All-American.

PREP: Earned All-Area honors in football, basketball and baseball at Glenbrook North High School ... Named the top male athlete of his class.

PERSONAL: Son of Tom and Margaret Gertner ... Favorite pro teams are the Blackhawks, Packers and White Sox and favorite athletes are Patrick Kane, Aaron Rodgers and Chris Sale ... Favorite foods are steak and french fries ... Enjoys country music, especially Eric Church and Luke Bryan .. Favorite movie is Goodfellas ... Enjoys watching sports ...
