WALLET. VOTERS TELL US WHAT THEY’RE PAYING AT THE GAS PUMP WILL DEFINITELY INFLUENCE HOW THEY WILL VOTE IN THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION. EVERYONE WHO SHARED THEIR OPINIONS WITH PITTSBURGH’S ACTION NEWS FOUR WANT TO SEE GAS PRICES BECOME A FOCAL POINT IN THIS YEAR’S PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION? HOW MUCH DOES THAT ANNOY YOU? OH, A LOT. A LOT, A LOT. WHEN THINGS GO UP DOUBLE COMPARED TO WHAT IT WAS LAST YEAR. YEAH. YOU THINK SO? YEAH. THE, UH. YES. WE GOT THE RESOURCE IN THIS COUNTRY. LET’S USE THEM. TWO YEARS AGO, A GROUP CALLED AMERICANS FOR PROSPERITY SPONSORED SEVERAL DISCOUNTED GAS EVENTS FOR THE PUBLIC. IT WAS THEIR ATTEMPT TO HIGHLIGHT RISING GAS PRICES AT THE TIME THAT GROUP WANTS GAS AND ENERGY TO TAKE CENTER STAGE IN THIS YEAR’S PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION. JUST FOCUSING ON HOW WE CAN CREATE AN ENVIRONMENT FOR ROBUST, AFFORDABLE AND RELIABLE AMERICAN ENERGY MADE DOMESTICALLY RIGHT HERE AT HOME. BUT WHICH PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE IS MOST LIKELY TO SLOW DOWN RISING GAS PRICES? PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN OR FORMER PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP, TRUMP OR BIDEN? TRUMP, TRUMP? YEAH. WHY? SO HE DONE IT BEFORE TRUMP. YOU THINK? ABSOLUTELY. WHY SO? BECAUSE WHEN HE WAS IN PRESIDENCY BEFORE WE DIDN’T HAVE ALL THESE ISSUES WITH FOOD PRICES AND GAS PRICES. IT’S TOUGH DECISION. BUT I’D GO WITH BIDEN. YOU WOULD GO WITH BIDEN? YES. ANY REASON WHY? UM, DEMOCRATIC? I WON’T GO WITH TRUMP. BUT SOME PEOPLE ARE LEERY OF BOTH PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES ON THE ISSUE. DO YOU HAVE CONFIDENCE IN EITHER? JOE BIDEN OR DONALD TRUMP TO CONTROL INFLATION AND THE ENERGY AND GAS PRICES? I PLEAD THE FIFTH. AND TONIGHT, TRIPLE A TELLS US THAT THE AVERAGE PRICE FOR GAS IN SOUTHWESTERN PENNSYLVANIA IS MORE THAN $3.70 A GALLON. THAT’S AT LEAST $0.20 MORE THAN THE NATIONAL AVERAGE IN WILKINS

AAA says the average price for gas exceeds $3.70 a gallon in southwestern Pennsylvania, 20 cents more than the national average.Gas industry observers say prices will climb in the summer months, which is an annual trend as the summer approaches.Inflation and gas prices are what many people are thinking about as they ponder which candidate will receive their vote."When things go up, double what they were last year, yeah," voter Nikki Thatcher said when asked how these issues affect her vote.A nonprofit political action group called Americans for Prosperity has highlighted rising gas prices since 2022 and wants the matter to be considered when Americans vote.The group is "focusing on how we can create an environment for robust, affordable, reliable American energy, made domestically right here at home," said Americans for Prosperity spokesperson, Ashley Klingensmith.Voters will choose between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump to address inflation and gas prices.GasBuddy and the Energy Information Administration say the average price of gas nationwide in 2024 will be cheaper than last year.
