CCSD reaches tentative agreement with two bargaining units

The Clark County School District (CCSD) has reached tentative agreements with two of its employee bargaining units. On October 28, 2021, the Board of School Trustees will review the contracts for approval, and each bargaining unit will also need to ratify its contract.

“The CCSD Trustees are pleased that agreements with the licensed and administrative bargaining units are being finalized,” said Board President Linda Cavazos. “We look forward to reviewing these agreements and providing increased pay, benefits, and professional development opportunities for the District’s deserving employees.”

The tentative agreements are the result of months of negotiations with the Clark County Education Association (CCEA) and the Clark County Association of School Administrators and Professional-Technical Employees (CCASAPE).

To address driver shortages, and student transportation needs, a tentative agreement was reached with the Education Support Employee Association (ESEA) to aid in the hiring and retention of transportation workers. These incentives will be funded to address delays in student arrival and departure times. Full contract negotiations continue with the ESEA, the Police Officers Association (POA) of the Clark County School District, and the Police Administrators Association (PAA) of the Clark County School District.

The contracts with these two bargaining units address employee pay, benefits, and professional development opportunities in support of student academic success. The agreement between CCSD and CCEA includes specific transparency and reporting provisions to restore the Teachers Health Trust (THT) to financial viability, pay past obligations, and ensure program continuity and coverage should management and oversight issues continue.

“The pressures experienced through this pandemic have been unprecedented, and we could not have made it through without the cooperation of the bargaining units representing our employees,” said CCSD Superintendent Dr. Jesus F. Jara. “We are pleased to have reached agreements with each of the bargaining units to provide the pay, benefits, and professional support necessary for our employees and our kids to succeed. We have ensured our teacher’s health coverage will continue and implemented safeguards to require timely reporting of program viability. These agreements would not have been possible without Fikisha Miller leading the negotiating team.”
