North Carolina Central University Athletics

Career:  Became the third Eagle to be named MEAC Player of the Year, and was a First Team All-MEAC selection in the 2019-20 season.  Appeared in 55 games with 31 starts, and averaged 30.3 minutes per game.  Scored a total of 838 points with 400 rebounds, and averaged 15.2 points and 7.3 boards per game.  Named MEAC Player of the Week five times, and Defensive Player of the Week once.

As a Redshirt Senior (2019-20)  
Became the third Eagle to be named MEAC Player of the Year, and was a First Team All-MEAC selection.  Appeared in and started all 31 games, and averaged 36.8 minutes per game.  Finished first in the league in steals with 2.2 per game and in minutes per game.  Finished second in the conference in scoring with 19.2 points per game, third in rebounding with 9.5, and fifth in field goal percentage at 52.5.  Nationally, as of March 10 he ranked 22nd in NCAA Division I with 65 steals, 25th in minutes per game, and 33rd in double-doubles with 13.  Finished sixth all-time at NCCU in a single season with 596 points, fifth in field goals with 216, fifth in rebounds with 294, fourth in steals with 68, fifth in total minutes with 1,141, and fourth in minutes per game with 36.8.  Named MEAC Player of the Week five times, and Defensive Player of the Week once.  Averaged 20.0 points with 10.0 rebounds against MEAC opponents.  Scored a career-high 33 points twice against Mid-Atlantic Christian on Dec. 30, and Delaware State on Jan. 25.  Pulled down a career-high 19 rebounds in a double-double against USC Upstate with 16 points on Nov. 11.  Had one of his best games of the season with a double-double against Maryland Eastern Shore with 28 points and 18 rebounds on Feb. 22.  Scored 30+ points three times, and 20+ points 13 times.  Led the team in scoring 18 times, rebounding 24 times, and recorded 14 double-figure rebound games.  Preseason Third Team All-MEAC.


As a Redshirt Junior (2018-19)
Appeared in 24 games and averaged 21.9 minutes per game.  Averaged 10.1 points and 4.4 rebounds per contest.  Was one of two Eagles to reach 30 points when he put up a season-high 31 at Howard on February 18.  Scored 20+ points twice with 22 against Wilberforce on December 30 and 21 against Coppin State on January 19.  Pulled down a season-high nine rebounds with 16 points against Savannah State on February 23.

2017-18: Sat out due to NCAA transfer rules.

Prior to NCCU:

Cleveland State (2015-17): Played in 30 games and started nine in his sophomore year in 2016-17.  Totaled 277 points and 158 rebounds over two years.  Shot 41.0 percent from the floor and put up a season-high 11 points against Lake Erie.  Pulled down a career-high tying 11 rebounds at Tennessee-Martin.  Played in 29 games and started five in his freshman year in 2015-16.  Scored a career-high 15 points (5-for-7) at UIC along with six rebounds a career-high four assists.  Pulled down a career-high 11 rebounds at Northern Kentucky.

High School (Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary): Named Second Team All-District and Second Team All-Ohio.  Averaged 16.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per game in his senior year.  Advanced to the regional final with a 26-1 record with his squad in his senior year.  Reached the state semifinals in his junior year where he averaged 12.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game.  Spent his first two seasons at The Linsy School in Wheeling, West Virginia.

Personal: Born October 21, 1996 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  Parents are Mel and TiAnda Blount.  Enjoys photography, singing, dancing and playing video games.  His brother Khalid plays on the NCCU football team.  His favorite team is the Pittsburgh Steelers and also enjoys traveling.  Majoring in business management at NCCU.
