Learn about the inner workings of a local non-profit, Easter Seals Iowa, and various strategies to create change in this immersive experience held in Des Moines. Easter Seals provides exceptional services to ensure that all people with disabilities or special needs and their families have equal opportunities to live, learn, work and play in their communities. You’ll have the opportunity to participate in a summer camp experience in the winter, including bunking in the on-site cabins, eating camp-style, and enjoying the campgrounds (hiking, frisbee golf, rec center, game room). You’ll learn from Easter Seals staff on how their organization engages in the various paths found in the Pathways for Civic Action and Social Change, including direct service, philanthropy, social entrepreneurship and more; participate in service projects on site; and take part in hands-on experiences to gain empathy. The immersive experience will begin at Easter Seals late afternoon Wednesday, Jan. 19 and conclude the morning of Jan. 22. There will be one virtual meeting scheduled prior to the experience.
