Representative Mathew J. Muratore Republican - 1st Plymouth

 

Mathew Muratore began his tenure as State Representative of the First Plymouth District upon his election in November 2014. Preceding that, he served on the Plymouth Select Board from 2010-2015, and as Chairman from 2012-2014. Representative Muratore also served priorly on the Plymouth Advisory & Finance Committee, and as both Board Member and Chairman of the Plymouth Council on Aging.

Presently, Rep. Muratore serves on the Ways and Means, Healthcare Finance, Community Development and Small Businesses, and Municipalities & Regional Government Committees. He has also served on many other committees: as the ranking minority member of both the Tourism, Arts & Cultural Development Committee and the Municipalities & Regional Government Committee; assistant ranking member of Ways and Means; the Public Records Conference Committee; the Executive Office of Elder Affairs Citizen Advisory Committee; the WorkAbility Subcommittee of the Joint Committee on Children, Families and Persons with Disabilities; the Non-Emergency Human Service Transportation Task Force; the Ocean Advisory Commission; the Ocean Acidification Commission; the Northeast Fire Protection Commissions; and the Skilled Nursing Facility Task Force. He is currently a member of the Plymouth County Drug Abuse Task Force; the Permanent Commission on the Status of Persons with Disabilities; and the Behavioral Health Advisory Commission.

Representative Muratore has often been recognized for his beneficent efforts. In 2017, he received the Legislator of the Year Award from the Arc of Greater Plymouth and the Champion of Tourism Award from the Massachusetts tourism community. In 2018, he was given To the Moon and Back’s Sam’s Award for his work with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome. The next year, he received Legislator of the Year Award from MassAccess, and in 2023, he received South Shore Recycling Collaborative's Environmental Hero Award.

Rep. Muratore grew up on the South Shore and has been a Plymouth resident since 2001. He is a graduate of Northeastern University with a Business Management degree; he began his career as a licensed nursing home administrator in 1991, is still a member of the Massachusetts Senior Care Association, and a partner at EF Senior Care, a senior living consulting firm. He is also a former co-owner of Crayon College in Plymouth and Kingston.

The Representative is active among a myriad of community organizations including Sunrise Rotary Club, Plymouth Youth Development Collaborative, Knights of Columbus, the Plymouth Area Chamber of Commerce, the Plymouth Regional Economic Foundation, and the Plymouth Networking Group for Seniors. He is on the PACTV Board of Directors, and a member of the BIDLH-Plymouth Advisory Board.

Rep. Muratore is the proud father of six daughters, grandfather to one granddaughter, and husband to Kristin, a local attorney.

The First Plymouth District is comprised of Plymouth Precincts 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18.
