We had an extremely successful Fitness Week. We are so impressed with how many families participated in the morning workouts, after school hikes, visited “Try It Tuesday” and supported our Healthy Snack Shack. We had a total of 595 participants. We thank you all for your enthusiasm and support.
Our fundraising goal was $15,000. This goes directly to our Psycho Motor program at Welby Way. However, we exceeded that by $7,000 raising a total of $22,125. Thank you to everyone who participated.
Congratulations to our banner winners: Mrs. McKee, Mrs. McKinney, and Mrs. Lundy’s classes. The classes who had the most points and get the class trophy are Mrs. Beauchemin, Mrs. Aitchison, and Mrs. Lundy’s classes.
Congratulations to the winner of our “Design a T-Shirt” contest Rhiya Senthil Prabu.
The grand prize winner of the “I Like to Bike” contest is Averi Whang. Congratulations on a job well done and enjoy your new bike from Spoke and Wheel of West Hills.
Thank you to the teachers, and staff for their support and participation during this amazing week. A huge thank you to all our parent volunteers and members of POWW (Parents of Welby Way) who took time out of their week to come and help. We are looking forward to Fitness Week 2023!
We want to keep this good thing going so look out for “Fit Fridays” where we will offer parent/family morning workouts at the main gate, healthy morning snack shack, and family hikes.
We like to invite families out to join in on a family hike on May 6, 2022 at Victory Trailhead. You may park in the parking lot which is at the very dead end of Victory past Valley Circle. This is a 2.5 mile hike so please bring water, no dogs, and you are responsible for your children. Jasmine (POWW) will be there at 4pm and we will plan on starting our hike by 4:30pm sharp. We should be back to our cars no later than 6pm. We will post information on our social media as well.

Let's get to know Welby's new Office Manager Jet Manalastas!
I was born in the Philippines and came to the US almost 40 years ago as a young adult.
I have been with LAUSD for more than 20 years. I worked in different settings and positions throughout the District. My first assignment as a School Administrative Assistant was a Topeka Drive EL where I worked for 4 years, then at Sherman Oaks Center for Enriched Studies (SOCES) for almost 6 years before I came to Welby Way.
I have 2 grown up children who work and live in New York; my daughter is a dentist, and my son is a lawyer. I make several trips to New York during the year. I love that they have 4 seasons and I enjoy the charm and excitement that every season brings.
Before the pandemic, my favorite things to do were to entertain family and friends, and travel. I have visited many countries around the world. Both my husband and I come from big families, so we have a huge extended family who love to get together and eat, so holidays are always busy.
Because of the travel restrictions from COVID, I have learned to appreciate the time at home to just relax and enjoy the serenity, to do some reading and movie streaming. But I am looking forward to travel once again. My next destination is Africa.
I love to dress up and have a big collection of handbags and shoes. I have a soft spot for animals, especially dogs, and I support a couple of rescue organizations. My daughter and her husband have adopted several rescue animals, including ones with special needs.
I also love decorating my home, especially around Christmas time, when I transform my home to a “Hallmark Holiday Card.”
I hope to make more time for fitness and exercise.
