Launched last year, the State of California’s CalKIDS Program has set up college savings accounts with at least $500 for 3.6 million low-income public school and college-aged students. Parents and students should check on the program’s eligibility tool to see if their student qualifies for an account. If eligible, participants can access and monitor their account. Registering for your CalKIDS account is easy and only takes a few minutes. Make sure to have your 10-digit Statewide Student Identifier (SSID) available.
