Ohio History Fund Grants Announced

Hello Janet,

The Ohio History Fund announced its 2020-2021 class of 14 grant recipients on Statehood Day,  March 1.

The Ohio History Connection's Ohio History Fund supports projects across the state. This year, these include initiatives to collect oral histories from Lorain's Latino community and make accessible rare records about Urban Renewal in Warren. We're also helping the Over-the-Rhine Museum, a part of the Over-the-Rhine Historic District in Cincinnati, more fully document the history of its new c.1870 home. The project will help the museum plan for the building's rehabilitation.

Click here to read about grant recipients and projects. Congratulations to all! With this year's awards, the Ohio History Fund has made 94 grants totaling nearly $870.000.

Ohio History Fund grants happen because you help promote the special tax "check-off" and because you donate. Here's how you can continue to help:
  • Donate: Look for "Ohio History Fund" on line 26a of your Ohio tax return and designate a dollar amount. That’s it! The average donation is $9-10 - but feel free to be above average and contribute a little more! The more we all give this year, the more grants the Ohio History Fund makes next year.
  • Promote the tax check-off to your networks and contacts. Go to ohiohistory.org/historyfund, where you’ll find promotional materials to share, like the Wright Brothers' notice about receipts!
  • Now is the time to act: Most people who contribute to the Ohio History Fund file returns by April 15. Most of the money the Ohio History Fund grants comes in during this period.
