Living Well with Dementia An Interview with Terrie Montgomery

Terrie Montgomery's positive attitude is contagious. It doesn't come from lack of adversity in her life, however. In 2015, her expectations of a beautiful retirement didn’t go as planned when she was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s disease. Doctors advised her to get her life in order – that the disease was terminal - and gave her no words of hope. The following year she was diagnosed with double breast cancer. Today, she is a cancer survivor and tireless advocate for people living with dementia.

DECIDE: Providers

A study to examine how healthcare providers and staff assist families of African American/Black persons living with dementia navigate healthcare decision making.

WHAT: We are looking for healthcare providers and staff who assist Black persons living with dementia in making healthcare decisions. Eligible participants will be expected to engage in one confidential 60-minute virtual interview and will receive $40 compensation

WHY: To develop the DECIDE intervention for family caregivers

WHO: Physician, physicians assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers, medical assistants
