The primary research goal of the Hsiao Group is to develop new nanostructured materials, such as nanocellulose, for environmental remediation. Related projects include PFAS removal from water, hydrogen generation, and the development and application of fertilizers.

 Our recent publication “Efficient Removal of Short-Chain and Long-Chain PFAS by Cationic Nanocellulose” has been selected to feature in an online collection highlighting research on PFAS in water.

Stony Brook Southampton’s FoodLab hosted its first Annual Sea to Soil Summit, inviting their community to learn about the restorative benefits of kelp and seaweeds.

Dr. Tomas Rosén's Fantastic Talk at Forskarfredag 2022

Our friend Dr. Tomas Rosén won the Stockholm competition of ForskarGrandPrix. He delivered a fantastic presentation of his research on nanocellulose assembly by flow cell to the general audience.
