Renovation Updates

Special Collections will continue to offer research services during the Mullins Library Phase II renovation. We will attempt to fulfill all research requests; however, certain materials may not be available for research use during the renovation. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Temporary Location and Hours of Operation

The Special Collections Reading Room is currently located on the third floor of Mullins Library in room 329 and open by appointment only. Appointments are available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays.

Please note that the Reading Room is closed daily from noon to 1 p.m.

Modified Services

Due to logistical constraints, Research Services has temporarily modified services.

During Phase II of the Mullins Library renovation, all researchers must schedule an appointment to use the reading room at least five business days in advance of their visit. To do so, please email or call Research Services at specoll@uark.edu or 479-575-8444.

Researchers will be able to request up to 10 boxes per day. Due to limited space in the reading room, our ability to hold requested materials on a continuous basis will be impacted. Please notify Special Collections if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment.

If you need research assistance, a Research Services staff member can provide up to one hour of research assistance per semester. If Research Services is unable to complete the request in the allotted timeframe, the researcher has the option to schedule an in-person visit OR hire a proxy researcher through the University of Arkansas History Department. Research Services will continue to provide up to 300 pages of access copies free of charge per semester.

During the Mullins Library Phase II renovation, Special Collections is unable to provide access to unprocessed born-digital collections.
