All full-time employees of the Clark County School District are due up to $2,000 in retention bonuses, the district announced today.

The district will pay out the first $1,000 of the bonuses to all staff who were employed full-time as of Jan. 1, pending board of trustees approval this month. The other $1,000 will be for full-timers employed as of May 25.

The payments are to reward employees for their work during the coronavirus pandemic.

“The pandemic has stressed everyone in our community and across the country. This agreement is another step in showing our support and thanks to employees who continue to provide for the 300,000 students in CCSD,” Superintendent Jesus Jara said in a statement. “We recognize the hardships borne by so many of our employees throughout this pandemic and are committed to providing the resources available to support educators' needs.”

The district negotiated the bonuses with all employee unions. The board will consider finalizing the bonuses at its Jan 13 meeting.

CCSD has set aside about $80 million in federal school relief funds to cover the bonuses.
