As part of its annual campaign in recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is launching a new campaign to promote awareness of military sexual trauma, and is offering help for veterans who experienced MST.

A release from the Roseburg VA said this year the message for Sexual Assault Awareness Month is “We believe you – and we believe in you”.

Roseburg VA Medical Center Director Keith Allen said he wants MST survivors to know that free, private MST-related services are available that can help. He said the help is available, no matter how long it has been since the MST.

The release said the VA uses the term MST to refer to sexual assault or sexual harassment experienced during military service.

Veterans who have experienced MST can learn more about the support available by calling the Roseburg VA at 440-1000.
