In the 2022 General Election, Oregon has three open seats in the House of Representatives, and all three districts do not have an incumbent on the ballot.

The longtime congressman from District 4, Democrat Peter DeFazio, is retiring at the end of his current term.

Running to replace him: Republican candidate Alek Skarlatos and Democrat Val Hoyle.

Skarlatos is a former National Guardsman and one of four people who stopped a terrorist attack on a Paris-bound train. He lost to DeFazio in the last election.

Hoyle is the current labor commissioner for Oregon and a former house majority leader in the Oregon Legislature.

In Sunday’s edition of “Your Voice, Your Vote” Steve Dunn talks with both candidates about what they would do if elected to congress, and why they deserve your vote.

This November, voters in Oregon’s new District 6 will decide who their first representative. The Democratic incumbent of District 5, Kurt Schrader, was defeated in the May primary, so he is out for November.
