Your Voice, Your Vote: Oregon voters decide the fate of Measure 101 on Tuesday, Jan. 23

On Tuesday, Oregon voters will be deciding the future of Measure 101 – a measure that would repeal a tax on health care providers.

Meas. 101 is the only issue facing voters in Oregon’s special election. If passed, it would approve a 1.5 percent tax (or assessment) on health insurance plans and managed care organizations, while also raising taxes on some hospitals.

The funds are aimed at paying for the Medicaid expansion.

Oregon Rep. Julie Parrish is against the tax and worked to get the measure on the ballot.

Former Oregon House Majority Leader Val Hoyle says she is in support of the tax on hospitals and medical providers.

Both women sat down with KATU’s Steve Dunn to discuss their take on the importance of the measure.

Ballots are due by 8 p.m. on Tuesday (election day), and it is too late to mail in your ballot.
