Save a Life Through Organ Donation

Every nine minutes, another person is added to the organ donation wait list. You have the power to save their life when you become an organ donor.

In fact, you can become a living organ donor today and provide one of your kidneys or a portion of your liver to someone in need. Your life-saving donation can help your family member, neighbor, friend or stranger return to doing what they love sooner and healthier.

You can also register as an organ donor to make your organs available to those in need when you die. One donor can save up to nine lives through organ donation.

Living Donation

You could help save a life by donating one of your kidneys or a portion of your liver to someone in need. If you are interested in becoming a living donor, please complete a questionnaire using the link buttons on the right. After you submit the questionnaire, a representative from Intermountain Transplant Center will call you to discuss the living donation process. Learn more about being a living kidney or living liver donor.

Here's what you need to know when completing the Living Donor forms online:

  • Complete as much information on each of the pages to the best of your knowledge.
  • The information you complete on each page will be saved as you move to the next page.
  • After 1 hour of inactivity, your session will timeout and your form will be sent with as much information as was filled out at that time.
  • You may submit the form even if you do not have all the fields completed.
  • Click the submit button and the form will be sent. You will only be able to submit a form once.
  • A transplant representative will contact you by telephone to review and confirm your information. You may provide any additional updates at that time.

Deceased Donor Registry

Anyone can be a potential organ and tissue donor, regardless of age or medical condition. You’re never too old to be on the registry. The first priority for medical personnel is to save the lives of their patients. Organ and tissue donation is not discussed until every life saving option is exhausted and death has been declared or is imminent. The doctors and nurses at the medical center are completely separate from those who work for the organ and tissue recovery organizations.

In Utah, you may register to be a donor at yesutah.org. Although your registration is legal consent for donation, it is advisable to talk to your family about your wishes. This conversation will give them comfort and a positive direction should this become a reality.
