Mindfulness is a simple self-care tactic that can reduce stress, help you be less reactive, and assist you in finding a path to greater calm. It’s a quality we all possess; it can just take practice to access. Intermountain is offering free online classes to help you comfortably work toward achieving better emotional wellness. Courses are often available three times a day, six days a week to fit your schedule.

    Why mindfulness?

Stress is an inherent part of our lives, especially now. We don’t practice mindfulness to escape stress, we practice so we can relate to our stress in a healthier way.

At its core, mindfulness is being fully present, moment by moment. It sounds simple, but it isn’t always easy, especially when we’re all facing so many sources of stress and distraction. It’s well worth the practice, though. When implemented as a consistent part of your health and wellness regimen, mindfulness can provide many health benefits.

    The benefits of mindfulness

Many people who practice mindfulness report:

    Increased

    • Capability to relax
    • Energy and enthusiasm for life
    • Self-esteem and self-compassion
    • Ability to cope with discomfort

    Decreased

    • Physical and psychological symptoms
    • Acute and chronic stress
    • Perception of pain

Intermountain is committed to offering opportunities for our communities and caregivers to learn how to practice mindfulness to improve their own health and wellbeing. Free online mindfulness options are available allowing all to learn about and practice mindfulness from home at their convenience.
