Biography

2020-21 (R-SENIOR): INDOOR: Indoor season cancelled due to COVID-19 pandemic…BEACH: Posted an 1-6 record on the year as part of No. 3 and 5 pairings…went 1-4 with Seleisa Elisaia at 5s and 0-2 with Ericka Snopko at 3s…dominated Master’s in straight sets with Elisaia and pushed two different pairs from teams ranked in Top 20 to tiebreakers…during exhibition pairs tournament, helped Snopko upset CSUN’s No. 1 pair and win Bronze pool.

2019-20 (R-JUNIOR/SENIOR): INDOOR: Played in 12 matches, making two starts…recorded 41 digs (1.58 per set) and three service aces…tallied season-high nine digs vs. CSUN Sept. 6…posted eight digs against Canisius Aug. 31 and Seattle U Oct. 5…BEACH: Played in eight matches, going 0-2 as the No. 4 pair and 5-1 as the No. 5 pair…partnered exclusively with Leisa Elisaia…posted wins against Saint Mary’s and San Francisco on Mar. 7...earned Academic All-Big West honors.

2018 (REDSHIRT/JUNIOR): INDOOR: Sat out the season as a redshirt…BEACH: Played in three matches as the No. 6 doubles pair…lost to North Florida with Hayley McCluskey, but went 1-1 with Leisa Elisaia...during the offseason, did an internship with a local dentist to prepare for her future career goals.

2016-17 (JUNIOR COLLEGE): Sophomore year competed in indoor and beach volleyball for Mira Costa College…helped Spartans win Conference Championship and make State Tournament appearance…named Second Team All-Conference…placed second at State Tournament with beach volleyball team…freshman year competed in indoor volleyball for NAIA’s La Sierra University in Riverside, Calif…. helped Golden Eagles win Conference Championship and make National Tournament appearance…received associates degree and made Dean’s List in 2017.

HIGH SCHOOL: A 2016 graduate of Imperial High School…coached by Chelsey Jensen-Strahm…named First Team All-League all four years and team MVP twice…recorded 535 kills, 807 digs, and 171 aces during prep career…helped Tigers win League Championship as a junior…also competed in softball and basketball for IHS…Had offers to play DI softball, but pursued volleyball instead…basketball team won CIF-SDS Division 2 Championship senior year…graduated in Top 20 of class with 4.2 GPA.

PERSONAL: Born on May 16, 1998…daughter of Martin Ortiz and Janet Spence-Ortiz…a psychology major working on minors in chemistry and sociology…hopes to become an orthodontist after her time at CSUB...is the CSUB Dental Club's social media coordinator.
